Best Time to Visit

The Sheshnag Lake trail via Chandanwari is best visited in June and September when the Amarnath Yatra is not running. June gives the trail after snow clearance but before the yatra season — the lake is empty and the surrounding peaks carry winter snowfields. September gives post-yatra quiet trail conditions before winter snowfall closes the higher sections. Pahalgam at 2,130 metres stays cool in summer and cold in winter.
