After an early breakfast, we drive towards the east of Ladakh for a full day of sightseeing on your leh ladakh tour package. Our first stop is Magnetic Hill, a fascinating spot that defies the law of gravity – vehicles placed in neutral appear to roll uphill on their own. The optical illusion is thrilling, and everyone in the group will want to test it out and capture it on video.
From Magnetic Hill, we continue to the famous Confluence of Two Rivers – the Indus River coming from Tibet on the left and the Zanskar River coming from Zanskar Valley on the right. The two rivers meet but do not mix, creating a stunning visual of two different coloured waters flowing side by side. This leh ladakh tour package sight of the deep blue Indus merging with the muddy green of the Zanskar is a natural wonder that you can sit and watch for hours on your leh ladakh tour package.
We then visit Hall of Fame, a museum constructed and maintained by the Indian Army in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives during the 1999 Indo-Pak wars. The museum displays weapons, uniforms, photographs, and handwritten letters from soldiers to their families that tell the story of incredible courage and sacrifice. The exhibits cover the history of Indian military operations in Ladakh from the 1947 war to the Kargil conflict. For many women on this leh ladakh tour package, the Hall of Fame is an emotional and deeply patriotic experience that brings tears to your eyes.
Next is Gurudwara Pathar Sahab, a beautiful Sikh shrine built on a massive boulder that bears the sacred imprint of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s body. The gurudwara is maintained by the Indian Army, and the peace and devotion inside are deeply moving. Soldiers and travelers alike stop here to pray and seek blessings for safe journeys through the mountains.
After visiting the confluence, we head to Alchi, home to a complex of temples dating back to the 11th century. Alchi is the most celebrated of Ladakh’s monasteries and features incredibly well-preserved ancient murals and Buddhist art. On the way back, we visit Likir Monastery, originally built in the 11th century and reconstructed in the 18th century, which houses a magnificent 25-feet gold-covered Buddha statue that towers above the monastery courtyard. The statue against the backdrop of clear Ladakhi skies is one of the most photographed sights on any leh ladakh tour package.
Back in Leh, we visit the historic Leh Palace, a nine-storey structure that was once the royal residence of the King of Ladakh, followed by Shanti Stupa, a white-domed Buddhist monument that offers panoramic sunset views of the entire Leh valley. The golden light of sunset over the mountains as seen from Shanti Stupa is a moment of pure peace. Dinner and overnight stay at Leh.
Please Note: The entry ticket to Hall of Fame museum is Rs. 250/- per person. The ticket includes the Light & Sound show held every evening by 7 pm (vehicle for the evening show is not included in the package – transport cost approx Rs. 1,500–2,000 per vehicle. Monday it will be closed).
