Overview

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine sits in the Trikuta Hills above Katra in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir at approximately 5,200 feet — one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in India, receiving millions of devotees each year. The yatra from Katra base camp to the shrine and back covers approximately 24 to 28 kilometres on a well-maintained paved path. From June 2025 Katra station is also the southern gateway of the Kashmir rail corridor — the Vande Bharat Express runs from here to Srinagar in approximately 3 hours, crossing the Chenab Bridge at approximately 359 metres above the river on the way. Days 4 through 6 cover Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar. Day 7 closes at Srinagar Airport. Train tickets from Katra to Srinagar are booked separately through IRCTC and are not included in the package cost. Daily breakfast and dinner on MAP basis throughout.

Itinerary

The kashmir package with vaishno devi begins at Katra Railway Station where the Bon Voyagers representative is waiting. Katra is the base town for the Vaishno Devi yatra — a small, organised hill town at the foot of the Trikuta Hills whose entire economy runs on the pilgrimage. The afternoon is for settling in, completing the yatra registration at the Shrine Board counter, collecting the yatra parchi and buying any walking equipment needed for the Day 2 climb — sturdy shoes, a light rain cover and a small backpack are the practical requirements. The Katra market carries all of this and the evening gives the group an early rest before a pre-dawn Day 2 start. Overnight at Katra.
