Kathmandu and Pokhara sit at moderate hill altitude, while Jomsom and Muktinath hold genuine cold and wind even in summer, Jomsom in particular known for strong afternoon winds funnelling up the Kali Gandaki valley. The route runs best from February through June and September through December.
