Best Time to Visit
Phuentsholing stays warm and humid most of the year, while Thimphu and Paro sit noticeably cooler at altitude. Gangtey is the coldest stop on this route, sitting near 2,900 metres with frost common through December and January, which is also when the valley's black-necked cranes are present. March to May brings clearer passes and blooming forest, while October to February offers the sharpest Himalayan views along with the crane season itself.
