Phuentsholing stays warm year-round, while Thimphu, Punakha and Paro sit at different altitudes, so evenings in a farmhouse can run cooler than a heated hotel room, worth packing for specifically. Dochula Pass, the highest point on this route at just over three thousand metres, adds a genuine chill even on a clear day. March through May brings mild days well suited to farmhouse courtyards and outdoor evenings, while October and November offer the sharpest Himalayan views once the monsoon clears, both strong windows for this slower-paced route.
