Overview

This bhutan bike tour package by road puts riders on two wheels from Phuentsholing onward, climbing over Dochula Pass and through four Bhutanese towns on a mix of national highway and mountain switchbacks. Six nights, one support vehicle trailing the whole way, and a rest day built in before the final push back out. Bon Voyagers manages the route, hotels, permits and mechanical support from Bagdogra to Bagdogra.

Itinerary

This bhutan bike tour package by road begins with a pickup at Bagdogra Airport, where a support vehicle carries riders and luggage toward Phuentsholing, roughly four hours through Dooars tea estates and the last stretch of Indian plains. Bikes aren't handed over on day one, since border formalities come first, followed by a short RTO visit to get riding permits endorsed before wheels actually turn tomorrow. Riders bringing their own motorcycles travel that stretch independently, while those using rental bikes collect them at the Phuentsholing depot the next morning. Overnight in Phuentsholing, with a full route briefing before dinner.

Best Time to Visit

Phuentsholing stays warm year-round, while Thimphu, Punakha and Paro each sit at different altitudes, so riding gear needs layering rather than a single setup for the whole route. Dochula Pass is the coldest single point on the ride, over three thousand metres, with wind adding a real chill even on otherwise mild days. March through May offers dry roads and clear passes before the monsoon narrows riding conditions, while October and November bring the same after the rains clear, making both shoulder seasons the strongest fit for this route. Monsoon months carry real landslide risk on these roads and are best avoided entirely.
