Tso Moriri is smaller at 28 kilometres, sits at a similar altitude of 4,522 metres, and holds a completely different character — quieter shoreline, no camps lining the bank, a working monastery above the village, and bird life that Pangong doesn't support. The water colour is deep blue without the dramatic turquoise shift that Pangong produces, but the stillness of the surface in the morning and the mountain reflections are as clean as any lake in the Himalayas. If Pangong is the lake that performs, Tso Moriri is the one that sits still and waits for you to notice.
