Overview

Itinerary

Port Blair is a working port city — the ferry terminals, the market lanes and the administrative buildings give it a different character from the resort islands that follow. The afternoon covers the Cellular Jail, a colonial-era central prison built by the British between 1896 and 1906 across seven radiating wings. The evening light and sound show at the Cellular Jail runs for approximately 45 minutes and covers the history of the freedom struggle and the prisoners held here — it is conducted in Hindi and English on alternate evenings.
