Teetwal sits on the Kishanganga River in the Kupwara district of North Kashmir at a point where the river is also the Line of Control. Ten metres of water separate the Indian bank from the Pakistan-administered bank and the new Sharda Peeth Temple stands within 500 metres of that line — a reconstruction of the ancient seat of learning that the original Sharda Peeth, now in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, once represented across the subcontinent. Day 2 drives north through Sopore and Handwara to Kupwara town for the overnight base before the Sadhna Pass crossing. Day 3 crosses Sadhna Pass at approximately 3,100 metres and descends to Teetwal for the overnight at the border village. Day 4 covers the Teetwal temple and LOC bridge before the return through Karnah. An ePass permit is required for the Teetwal section and is obtained online through the Kupwara district portal.
