Overview

Sangti Valley sits about fifteen kilometres beyond Dirang, a flat glacial floor between low hills where a stream runs through grazing meadows. Most of the year it is a quiet farming valley of Monpa villages and a horse grazing flat. In winter, a small number of black necked cranes have historically flown in from Tibet to feed here, making Sangti one of the rare wintering sites for the bird in Arunachal Pradesh, though sightings are not guaranteed in any given year. Itinerary

You arrive at Guwahati airport or railway station and our representative starts the long climb up to Bomdila, roughly 290 kilometres and about nine hours including the Inner Line Permit check at Bhalukpong. It is an honest full day on the road, the price of moving from the Assam plains into the West Kameng hills in one go. Bomdila sits at around 8,000 feet, a sensible first night before dropping gently to Dirang and Sangti tomorrow. You reach the hotel by evening and turn in early.

Best Time to Visit

Arunachal Pradesh is most accessible from March to early November, when Sela Pass and the Tawang roads are generally clear of heavy snow. September offers a perfect balance of manageable weather and stunning visibility before winter conditions begin in November.
