Trailhead 5 Days Andaman Trekking Package | Forested
Overview
The Andaman Islands are primarily sold as a reef and beach destination and the forest that covers the interior of South Andaman gets very little of the attention it deserves. Mount Harriet National Park sits approximately 15 kilometres from Port Blair at the highest point on South Andaman island β approximately 365 metres β and the trail through it passes through rainforest dense enough that the canopy closes over the path in the upper sections and the light filters down in the way that old-growth tropical forest produces it. The Chiriya Tapu coastal forest at the southernmost accessible point of the main island runs to the waterβs edge in places β the trail follows the landβs end through forest with the sea appearing through the trees at the turns. Munda Pahar near Wandoor is a beach that a forest path delivers you to rather than a road, which changes the character of arriving at it. None of these sites appear in the standard Andaman itinerary. This andaman trekking package is five days in the forest of South Andaman β the part of the Andaman Islands that the reef and the beach have made invisible.
Bon Voyagers manages the complete ground programme from Port Blair Airport arrival. Day 1 covers the Cellular Jail and the Mount Harriet orientation. Day 2 is the full Mount Harriet National Park trek β pre-dawn start, summit, return. Day 3 covers the Munda Pahar forest walk and the Wandoor coastal forest. Day 4 is the Chiriya Tapu full day coastal forest trek with a pre-dawn start. Day 5 covers Ross Island on foot and the departure. Port Blair is the base for all five nights β all trekking sites are within South Andaman, accessible from the city by vehicle or short ferry. Private AC Ertiga or Xylo class vehicle covers all road transfers. Forest department permits for Mount Harriet National Park are included. Daily breakfast and dinner on MAP basis throughout.

Best Time to Visit
October through April is the ideal window for this andaman trekking package β the South Andaman forest trails are most accessible in dry weather and the pre-dawn Chiriya Tapu start is most productive before the monsoon heat builds. The monsoon from May through September can make the Mount Harriet trail slippery and the coastal paths at Chiriya Tapu difficult. December and January see peak demand.
