Best 4 Days Wahkhen Village Khasi Music | Incredible
Overview
The Duitara is a Khasi string instrument that the village of Wahkhen builds by hand. The Bom is the tribal drum that carries the rhythm the string plays against. Both have been made in Wahkhen households for generations, not as a cultural preservation project but as the ordinary practice of a community that has always made its own music. The wahkhen village khasi music tour is built around two nights in that village – the instrument workshops, the natural amphitheatre in the hills where the sound carries differently from any built stage, and the living root bridge and hidden waterfalls that the forest around the village carries alongside everything else.
Bon handles the vehicle from Guwahati Airport or Railway Station with Shillong as Night 1 and Wahkhen as Nights 2 and 3. Day 2 arrives at the village with the afternoon given to the instrument workshops and the evening community music. Day 3 covers the forest trails – the living root bridge, the hidden waterfalls and the natural amphitheatre above the village. Day 4 returns via Shillong to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station. Daily breakfast on CP basis throughout.

Best Time to Visit
Meghalaya stays cool year-round. Shillong enjoys pleasant weather (15°C–25°C), while Cherrapunji and Mawsynram receive heavy monsoons (June–September), creating dramatic waterfalls. Winters (October–February) are crisp and dry (4°C–16°C), perfect for exploring living root bridges, crystal-clear Dawki river, and limestone caves. October to April is the best time for sightseeing, trekking, and clear valley views.
