Overview
The Camellia shrubs growing wild in the hills above Mawlyngot were there long before anyone harvested them. A village school teacher found them, understood what they were and set in motion a community decision that turned a village known for little into the source of Urlong Tea – an organic wild tea that carries the specific character of the East Khasi Hills soil it grows in without any plantation intervention.
