Dooars is a region in the state of West Bengal India. It is located in the northeastern part of the state and falls under the Darjeeling district. This region covers an area of 3271 sq km and has a population of about 526,000 people. Dooars was formed when the Kandi valley was split from Dooars by the formation of a new river called Jaldapara. The name “Dooars” derives from two words: “Do” which means hill and “Ars” which means forest. The area is surrounded by beautiful hills and valleys which makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations in West Bengal.

The major attractions here are:

Lataguri Wildlife Sanctuary

Lataguri is a place where you can see wildlife in their natural habitat. It is famous for its wild life. The best time to visit this area is during the month of April and May. There are several waterfalls and shrines located around the area. The wildlife safari will give you an opportunity to see different species of animals that are native to Dooars forests.

Jaldapara National Park

Jaldapara is one of the National Park in Dooars ( West Bengal ). Famous wild life found here are – Elephant, Rhino, Deer, Bison, Leopard, etc. Best time to visit the park is from Oct – March due to weather conditions. Jaldapara is also home of 26 different ethnic community and 56 different languages are spoken around the jungle.

Itinerary

DAY-1

Greetings & Pick up from Newmal Junction / NJP Junction and transfer to Lataguri. Second half visit Metha Forest. N/S Lataguri / Murti.

DAY-2

Early morning jungle safari at Guest own cost & It’s optional. After breakfast visit Gajoldoba, Gajoldoba is full of interesting sightseeing places. The Gajoaldoba barrage in itself is worth spending some time. You may also take a ride in the local fisherman's boat in the downstream Teesta (It’s optional & Guest own cost), during monsoon months avoid the ride as the water volume increased substantially. Also do not venture in the upstream river as it can prove to be dangerous. Across the river is the Apalchand forest famous for its population of pachyderm. The Baikunthapur forests on the western side of the river is also home to a number of wildlife variety.

DAY-3

After Breakfast transfer to Suntalekhola via visit Samsing, Rocky Island, Lolygorus View Point, back to hotel. N/S Suntalekhola.

DAY-4

After Breakfast transfer to Dalgaon / Kumai via Side Scene of Jhalong / Bindu, Jhalong is situated on the bank of the river Jaldhaka on the Indo-Bhutan border. It lies at the foothills of the Himalayas, on the way to Bindu in Kalimpong sub-division & Bindu is the last village of West Bengal before one enters Bhutan. It is a beautiful valley on the bank of the river Jaladhaka. This river serves as a natural physical boundary separating West Bengal and Bhutan. Bindu is also famous for its cardamom plantations. Night stay at Dalgaon / Kumai.

DAY-5

After breakfast check Out from Dalgaon / Kumai & transfer to Jaldapara. Second half visit Khoyerbari Tiger Reserve Camp, Bhutan gate, Crocodile project, Gumpha, Phuntsoling. N/S Jaldapara.

DAY-6

After breakfast transfer to Jayanti. Tour to Rajavatkhaoa (Rajabhatkhawa is approachable by both road and rail form Siliguri nearly 155 kilometers and Alipurduar only 15 kilometers. Rajabhatkhawa is nearly 15 kilometers from Jayanti) / Jayanti & Buxa Fort (This small settlement is situated on the bank of River Jayanti. A spot with natural beauty forms a natural border with Bhutan. A 14 kilometer trek will take you to Buxa. Buxa is known as the Buxa Tiger Reserve). Overnight at Jaldapara.

DAY-7

Check out from Jaldapara and transfer to Hasimara station / NJP Junction with Sweet Memories of Dooars Tour.

  • • Meet & Greet upon arrival at New mal Junction and drop to Hasimara/New Alipurduwar Jn.
  • • Hotel Accommodation for duration as mentioned in the itinerary.
  • • All applicable Transfers & Sightseeing by NON AC vehicle which will not be at disposal and will be exclusively used for the group as per the itinerary only (on point to point basis).
