The river that feeds the krem chympe cave jaintia hills system goes underground somewhere upstream and resurfaces at the cave mouth in an amphitheatre of limestone with waterfalls entering the pool from above. Inside, the passage extends for over ten kilometres through a series of deep internal lakes held behind natural stone dams – more than fifty of them stacked through the mountain. The only way through is on the water. Bamboo boats navigate the first sections, the deeper passages require swimming. At the end of the cave the Khaddum Falls drop immediately outside the exit into a valley the forest has kept to itself. India’s fifth longest cave carries none of the foot traffic its ranking would suggest.
Bon handles the vehicle from Guwahati Airport or Railway Station with Jowai as Night 1 and Khliehriat as the Night 2 base before the cave day. Day 3 is the full Krem Chympe experience – a 4×4 approach from Khliehriat, the cave, Khaddum Falls and the return. Day 4 covers Mawsawdong Falls before moving toward the Dawki area for Night 4. Day 5 gives the Umngot River at Dawki before the Shillong close. Day 6 returns to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station. Daily breakfast on CP basis throughout. Guide and local jeep charges at Krem Chympe are paid locally on Day 3.

Meghalaya stays cool year-round. Shillong enjoys pleasant weather (15°C–25°C), while Cherrapunji and Mawsynram receive heavy monsoons (June–September), creating dramatic waterfalls. Winters (October–February) are crisp and dry (4°C–16°C), perfect for exploring living root bridges, crystal-clear Dawki river, and limestone caves. October to April is the best time for sightseeing, trekking, and clear valley views.
